The challenge

Cheshire Roar is a women's and girls' basketball club in Chester, founded in 2020 and run as a Community Interest Company. Its women's team plays in the Manchester Area Basketball League's Women's Premier Division, with an U15 girls' team and junior sessions for ages 7 to 12.

The club had an active Facebook page and Instagram account, but no website. Fixtures, training times and news lived only on social media, where they were quickly buried. The club needed a proper home that its committee could keep up to date themselves, without a developer.

What we built

We designed and built the club's first website, with a bold black-and-gold look to match the Roar badge. It has fixtures and results that can be filtered by team and home or away, team pages, news, join and training information, and a contact form. Fans can subscribe to a calendar feed, so every fixture appears in their own calendar.

The photo gallery is organised into albums with a lightbox. We imported more than 400 photos from the club's archive, covering games and training from 2024 to 2026. Photos are resized automatically, location data is stripped, and nothing is published until an admin confirms consent, including parental consent for under-18s.

Behind it sits an admin made for a volunteer committee. It handles fixtures with quick score entry and a prompt for results still to enter, training sessions, teams, news with drafts and scheduled publishing, gallery albums with bulk upload, sponsors, FAQs, page text and club details. Committee members are invited by email, and changes appear on the site straight away.

  • Fixtures and results, filterable by team and home/away
  • Subscribable fixtures calendar feed
  • Photo gallery in albums, with a consent check before publishing
  • Automatic image resizing with location data removed
  • News with drafts and scheduled publishing
  • Contact form with emailed alerts and a branded auto-reply
  • Committee admin for fixtures, teams, training, sponsors and page text
  • Email invitations and password resets for admins

The outcome

Cheshire Roar has a website of its own, and the committee runs it. The club has added its own albums since launch, bringing the gallery to 459 photos. Fixtures, results and news now have a permanent home that players, parents and supporters can find, rather than a social feed that scrolls away.
